Kuwait Finance House - Bahrain (KFH-Bahrain) recently signed a contract with contractors M/s Ewan Al-Bahrain for the Construction and Renovation of the 'Al Nuzul' project; the restoration of a traditional Bahraini house for KFH-Bahrain and the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture and Research guests in the area of Muharraq. The agreement was signed in the presence of Her Excellency Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture and Research by KFH-Bahrain's MD & CEO, Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat and Ewan Al-Bahrain's Financial and Contract Director Mr. Jassim Ahmed Ashoor, and in the presence of KFH-Bahrain Executive Management. The development of Al Nuzul Project, located in the historic city of Muharraq, is envisaged to create a newly restored guesthouse for KFH-Bahrain to promote traditional Bahraini Architecture in the most prominent rural area in Bahrain, Muharraq. Her Excellency Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa hailed the initiative saying, "This is an initial step in the right direction for the preservation of Bahrain's heritage. It is encouraging that institutions like Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain recognize how crucial it is to preserve Bahrain's architectural heritage, history and culture and have demonstrated this through the Al Nuzul Project amongst other projects." Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat, MD & CEO of KFH-Bahrain confirmed this in his comments: "The Al Nuzul project joins other initiatives supported by KFH-Bahrain to develop a number of traditional buildings in the Muharraq area. The preservation of architectural heritage, history and culture is the role of us all." He added "Restoration and preservation of historical buildings is vital to our society. However recreating authenticity is a skillful task and one that must be executed with the finest detail and precision. The project has been designed by Gulf House Engineering who are well known for their traditional Bahraini Architectural designs. We have combined these talents with M/s Ewan Al-Bahrain as the contractor and M/s Emaar Engineering as the supervising Engineer who are also associated with many traditional restorations in the Kingdom, thereby aiming to preserve our heritage to the best of our abilities". This project aligns with a series of projects undertaken in the Old Quarter Rehabilitation Block 209 in Muharraq under the guidance of the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture and Research, which focuses on the restoration of traditional Bahraini houses and historical sites. To date there are five completed projects in Block 209 with more to come in the near future. Mr. Alkhayyat added "The Shaikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture and Research lead by Her Excellency Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa will act as cultural advisors to this project and assist in leading the project in order to achieve the quality initiatives of the proposed area".
