Manama, Bahrain, 29 October 2007: Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain was honoured for its outstanding contributions for social work and volunteerism in a special ceremony held under the auspices of the Minister of Social Development Dr Fatima Al Baluchi and in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Mona bint Sheim Al Thani, President of the Arab Union of volunteerism. The initiative from the Centre of Alternative Training and Consultancy, was the first edition in recognising pioneers and volunteer work in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The award was presented to several categories including; distinguished pioneer volunteers, youth volunteer, public organizations, and the private sector, in addition to honoring a number of public figures that have had significant contributions to volunteer work in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain won the award under the private sector category, which was accepted by Mr. Ahmed Khalfan - Assistant Manager at the Corporate Communications Department - on behalf of the Bank. On this occasion Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat General Manager of the Bank said "the name of Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain is closely linked to quality and excellence, and this award comes as a milestone on the road to our accomplishments. We continue to spare no efforts as an entity that bears the responsibility to serve the community in which we work and live. I would like to thank the Alternative Centre for Training and Consultancy for their valuable initiative which represents an important step in promoting volunteerism in Bahrain." He also pointed out that such awards are a major incentive for other companies and institutions to upgrade their performance through the noble contributions that serve the community. "Although KFH-Bahrain operates according to commercial objectives, we do on a regular basis provide substantial contributions to alleviate the suffering of communities surrounding us and participate effectively in support of volunteer activities." Mr. Alkhayyat added. KFH-Bahrain through its integrated strategy, plays an important role in supporting and encouraging the growth and solidarity among various segments of society. Providing support to a range of charitable, social and economic institutions that are important in helping the Bahraini society. In particular, individuals who face the social and physical challenges and various activities of the youth sector, professional societies and a number of national initiatives.
